How Can Specialist Tuition Help?
Every child has unique strengths and challenges, which is why specialist teaching begins with understanding the individual learner and tailoring support to their specific needs.
All tuition begins with an initial informal assessment and 'getting to know you' discovery phase, enabling me to build a clear picture of each child’s strengths, individual learning profile, and any barriers that may be affecting their progress. This information is used to create a personalised teaching programme, ensuring that support is carefully targeted and designed to meet the specific needs of each child.
Sessions are typically one hour in length and take place in my dedicated home set up in Redhill or delivered within a child's school, subject to agreement with the school.
Teaching follows a structured, cumulative and multi-sensory approach, helping children build secure foundations whilst developing the strategies needed for long-term success.
Sessions are carefully planned and may focus on:
Reading accuracy and fluency
Phonics and decoding skills
Spelling and written language
Handwriting and fine motor development
Vocabulary and language skills
Memory and learning strategies
Confidence and self-esteem
Lessons are designed to be engaging, supportive and achievable, providing a calm and nurturing environment in which children can develop confidence, experience success and enjoy learning. My aim is not only to improve literacy skills, but also to help children develop the confidence, resilience and self-belief needed to become successful, independent learners.
Where appropriate, I work collaboratively with parents, schools and other professionals to provide joined-up support and maximise progress.
